Flower Power Eatery in the Concrete Jungle : Il Fiorista
One evening I walked into my parent’s home and my mother was on tik tok. Apparently, she had had the app for about a year now and on this particular day I caught her watching viral tik tok restaurant reviews. Her birthday was the next week and she goes to me , “I want to go to the flower garden in Chelsea that I found on tik tok!” and I’m like huh, what is that? She shares the name and wow such a beautiful venue. I take the lead on setting up reservations for our large group. The staff here is awesome and blew me away both via the phone and in person during our dining experience.
So the location is not quite Chelsea in my eyes its more midtown vibes or Nomad. Upon arrival you are greeted with this uber calm aesthetic, flowers, and space! I mean it makes sense as Il Fiorista translates to the florist in Italian. Guess what, they have an in-house florist who hosts classes here during the week and was actively tending to the plants in the shop at 6pm on a Saturday!
Now on to the food. It was fresh and tasty with very good plating. I'm not going to lie the portion size was small but it was enough! Due to the size of our party we had the option to order from the pre-fixe menu. What I liked about the location though was that the pre-fix was not forced on everyone in the party because we had some kiddies at the table who didn’t grow up with the palate the my sister and I possess lol. The pre-fixe menu had air, sea and land (chicken, fish and some type of land animal). The only thing I was disappointed by was the desserts. I love desserts and theirs left me wanting more.
Omg, I almost forgot the drinks. They were litty. If you see me rant on my instagram feed, I am a stickler for curated cocktails. I think this has to do with me starting to really drink as a 21 year old and not a college student (don’t get me wrong I drank here and there during college but I wasn’t a big drinker). I feel like drinks are meant to be enjoyed for the flavors and tastes and yes sometimes you may get drunk but at least its off of good quality spirits and flavors.
Lastly, I do want to use this platform to highlight something incredible that I really appreciated the staff for doing. So my little 3 year old nephew was also with us and as you can imagine a 3 year old is looking to have fun. One of the patrons complained to the staff about the activities of said 3 year old patron and i was just so pleased and warmed at how the staff handled it with the offended patron. That's when I realized that this restaurant was the real deal: Food, Flowers and Hospitality (I wish there was another f work I could add)!
Il Fiorista thank you for hospitality and for making my mum a really happy lady surrounded by family, good eats and love on her birthday !
